Air Cadets have the opportunity to attend a variety of different camps - either weeks or weekends away. Squadron level camps are usually limited to a weekend away doing adventure training or visiting an RAF station. Annual camps are for one week with several squadrons attending on the same week, and as such are a great way to meet new people. They take place at an RAF station during the summer break to ensure no time off school!
Annual camps involve all the activities of the air cadets in a week - shooting, flying, adventure training, visits to RAF sections ( e.g. Fire, Police) and many other activities.
Another week long camp is the Easter camp, of which there are generally two - one at an RAF station and one at Swynnerton Training Area in Staffordshire. The latter is purely a week of adventure training.
Cadets may also get the opportunity to spend time overseas - applications for the International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) which are successful may take cadets as far abroad as India or America to take part in the cadet organisations in that country. Other overseas visits to British military bases in Gibraltar and Germany are also possible.
