Training

The squadron has a specific training programme for the parade night on Tuesday and Thursdays, consisting of lectures based on the criteria to gain the individual classifications of First Class, Leading, Senior and Staff.
The subjects consist mainly of aviation based subjects of increasing technicality, as well as subjects which teach other basic skills such as Radio and Expedition Training.

The training programme is also interspersed with less formal nights - fieldcraft nights, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award work, and other activities.

The subjects taught at each of the classification levels are detailed below. For certain levels, the cadet has a choice of subjects and can tailor it to his or her own interests.

Staff cadets are now eligible for a BTEC in aviation studies, and as such can gain a recognised qualification through normal ATC activities.
